The Art of Design course is intended as an alternative art class where students who are interested in the field of art (non-utilitarian, fine art driven) but are also interested in design (utilitarian, product driven) can find the perfect balance of both. Fundamental principles of 2D and 3D Design are used as the crucial building blocks in the creative process. Projects challenge students to explore traditional as well as non-traditional mediums, and progressively become more complex as students master the steps to abstraction, visual storytelling, and creative problem solving. Collaboration with other disciplines (digital media, math, science, humanities, etc.) will be a key component to the successful completion of this course. Students will be able to connect their interest in another subject matter to their art & design project, starting with concept ideation, research, development, material exploration, to actualization of the final project.
